Prayer
During unfolding of the four months of the work the authors had exchanged with seaman information that serves as initiative for their performance: during his voyages through the Mediterranean the mariner communicates the coordinates of his ship’s moorings at every anchorage. That is the starting point for action that simultaneously records that brief moment of a break of perpetual travel, when the authors and the mariner, positioned wherever they then happen to be on the Mediterranean, will each eat an orange and thereby link the moment with the act of satisfying one of life’s vital necessities, nourishment. The authors carry on with this ritual by saying a prayer for mariners: that is the stake with which they, in traditional fashion, pay their respects to the mariner in the course of his voyages.
